Twenty-six-year-old Dajuan Jones, known to his loved ones as Dewan, was sitting in a vehicle with a female friend near the intersection of Basset Street and Visger Avenue. It was close to 9:00 p.m. when an unknown individual approached the car and opened fire, fatally wounding Jones. The sudden and violent act left his two children without a father and his family grappling with a profound and senseless loss.
In the months that followed, the investigation into Dajuan Jones's murder yielded few answers. Police were left with a vague description of the suspect, described only as a man standing about five feet ten inches tall and wearing a brown hoodie. The lack of concrete leads left Jones's family in a state of agonizing uncertainty, desperate for any information that could bring his killer to justice.
Frustrated by the slow progress of the official investigation, Jones's family made a public plea for help in February 2018. Heartbroken and searching for closure, they announced a $3,500 reward for any information that would lead to an arrest.
