In the fall of 2016, a promising life was cut short in Detroit, Michigan, when 26-year-old Marcel Dubose was fatally shot. The incident that claimed the young man's life unfolded on an October evening at the well-known Hip Hop Shop on West 7 Mile Road, a place that had earned mentions from local rap legends. Dubose, a father to a young daughter and a mixed martial arts fighter, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
