In the summer of 2018, a disagreement during a dice game in Baton Rouge escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 34-year-old Lonnie Ray Paul. The incident occurred on the evening of June 19, 2018, in the 2000 block of 70th Avenue. When Baton Rouge Police arrived at the scene around 7:45 p.m., they discovered Paul suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
