On the evening of January 9, 2019, a tragic event unfolded inside an apartment in Bossier City, Louisiana, leading to the untimely death of 22-year-old Shandrell Simoneaux. Responding to a 911 call from a neighbor about a shooting at the Misty Hollow Apartment complex, Bossier City police officers and emergency medical personnel arrived to a grim scene.
Inside the residence on Misty Lane, they discovered Shandrell and her 40-year-old mother, Maeisha Simoneaux, both unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of the first responders, both women were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Bossier City Fire Department.
The investigation into the double homicide quickly pointed to a suspect, Frederick Dewayne Jackson, who was 22 years old at the time. Detectives uncovered evidence indicating that Jackson had shot both Shandrell and her mother before escaping in a vehicle. A significant detail that emerged was the presence of Shandrell and Jackson's two young children inside the apartment when the shooting occurred. The children were unharmed and subsequently placed in the care of family members. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute between Jackson and Shandrell.
Following the incident, a manhunt for Jackson was initiated. He was located in the nearby city of Shreveport by members of the U.S. Marshals Service task force and taken into custody. Frederick Dewayne Jackson was arrested and charged with first-degree murder for the deaths of Shandrell Simoneaux and Maeisha Simoneaux. He was booked into the Bossier City jail with his bail set at 7.5 million dollars.
