In the winter of 2019, a domestic dispute in Bossier City, Louisiana, escalated into a tragic double homicide that claimed the lives of a mother and her daughter. Forty-year-old Maeisha Simoneaux and her twenty-two-year-old daughter, Shandrell Simoneaux, were shot and killed on the evening of January 9th at the Misty Hollow apartment complex. Maeisha had been staying with her daughter at the time of the incident.
The violence erupted from a conflict between Shandrell and her boyfriend,
twenty-two-year-old Frederick Dewayne Jackson, who was also the father of her two young children. In a horrifying turn of events, the shooting took place in the presence of the two children. Following the altercation, a neighbor placed a call to 911, and both Maeisha and Shandrell were pronounced dead at the scene.
Law enforcement quickly identified Frederick Dewayne Jackson as the suspect. He fled the scene after the shootings but was located and apprehended in nearby Shreveport by the U.S. Marshals Service task force. Investigators found evidence linking Jackson to the crime, and he was arrested in connection with the deaths of the two women. The motive was determined to be related to a domestic situation between Jackson and Shandrell Simoneaux.
Initially indicted on two counts of first-degree murder, Frederick Dewayne Jackson later entered into a plea agreement with the Bossier Parish District Attorney's office as his trial was set to begin. He pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter. As a result of his plea, he was sentenced to serve 30 years at hard labor for each count, with the sentences to be served consecutively for a total of 60 years in prison.
