In a tragic turn of events stemming from a road rage incident, 65-year-old Cynthia Walker of Bossier City, Louisiana, lost her life on October 27, 2021. The fatal encounter unfolded in the parking lot of Willis-Knighton Hospital after what began as a minor vehicle collision.
The incident started when a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Ramsey Akes rear-ended Walker's car. Following the collision, Walker followed Akes to the hospital parking lot. There, she used her SUV to block his vehicle.
This led to a confrontation that ended with Akes fatally shooting Walker multiple times.
Law enforcement officers who were nearby, including one off-duty officer at the hospital, responded quickly to the sound of gunshots. They administered aid to Walker until paramedics arrived. She was then transported to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, where she was pronounced dead.
Ramsey Akes was arrested at the scene and was initially charged with first-degree murder. This charge was later amended to second-degree murder. During his trial, Akes claimed he acted in self-defense. Despite this claim, a jury found him guilty of second-degree murder.
