In the spring of 2019, a violent altercation in Houma, Louisiana, tragically cut short the life of Aaron Stearns, a 28-year-old male resident of the city. On the afternoon of Saturday, May 11, 2019, police responded to a call on Roselawn Avenue. There they discovered Stearns suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he died shortly after arrival.
The Houma Police Department quickly launched a homicide
investigation into the shooting death of Aaron Stearns. Their efforts, aided by a tip from the public, led them to a suspect within hours. On the evening of the shooting, officers with the Houma Police Department and deputies from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office located 21-year-old Xavier Hite in an apartment on Friendswood Drive. After a conversation with law enforcement, Hite surrendered peacefully.
A second suspect, 21-year-old Antyree Robinson, was also identified in connection with Stearns' death. Late in the afternoon on Sunday, May 12, Robinson turned himself in to the Houma police. Both Hite and Robinson were booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex.
Authorities believe that an altercation preceded the fatal shooting, though the specific nature of the dispute remained under investigation. Both Xavier Hite and Antyree Robinson faced charges of second-degree murder for their alleged roles in the death of Aaron Stearns.
