Steven Mercadel, a 16-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on September 8, 2019, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The incident occurred in the 3200 block of Morrice Duncan Drive, where New Orleans Police Department Fifth District officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting at approximately 3:16 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Steven suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
