In the spring of 2021, a young man's life was tragically cut short in New Orleans. Tharon Jermaine Sleeper, a 23-year-old male known affectionately as 'Fat Man,' was a native and lifelong resident of the city. A graduate of McDonough 35 High School, he was known for his deep love for his family.
On the evening of April 14, 2021, at approximately 10:40 p.m., the sound of gunfire shattered the night in the 5400 block of N. Rampart Street.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Tharon Sleeper suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, his life taken by an act of gun violence.
Tharon was the youngest son of his mother, Katrina Walker, and the middle child of his father, Aron Sleeper Jr. He left behind a large and loving family, including his stepfather, siblings, grandparents, and his girlfriend, Samyia Guy, along with their children. His death left a void in the hearts of his family and friends, who gathered to celebrate his life and mourn his passing at the Battleground Baptist Church on April 23, 2021. As of now, the case remains an open homicide investigation, with a reward being offered for information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible for his death.
