In the spring of 2016, the life of a 38-year-old Black/African American man named Jeffrey Derouselle was cut short by violence on the streets of New Orleans, Louisiana. On the evening of Friday, May 13, 2016, Derouselle was fatally wounded by gunfire. The incident was part of a weekend marked by multiple acts of violence in the city, including other murders and stabbings.
Known to his friends and family by the nicknames "Jazzy" or "J Money," Jeffrey Derouselle was a father of five and
the owner of an automotive shop. Those who knew him described him as an outgoing, loving, and fun individual with a creative and ambitious spirit. His death left a significant void in the lives of his loved ones, particularly his oldest daughter.
Following the shooting, the Orleans Parish Coroner's office officially identified Jeffrey Derouselle as a victim of homicide by shooting. The New Orleans Police Department launched an investigation into his death. However, despite the passage of time, public records and news reports do not contain information regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the murder of Jeffrey Derouselle.
