In the early hours of February 8, 2020, in the Mid-City neighborhood of New Orleans, the life of 25-year-old Niukura Gonzales was tragically cut short. Gonzales, a Hispanic female, was with another individual, Angel Funez, in the 600 block of South Pierce Street at approximately 12:25 a.m. when they were approached by a man wearing a hood and riding a woman's cruiser-style bicycle. The assailant shot both Gonzales and Funez multiple times.
