Kim Boutte, a 55-year-old African American woman, was tragically killed on August 11, 2020, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Known as the Big Queen of the Spirit of Fi Yi Yi, Kim was a beloved figure in her community, celebrated for her cultural contributions and her role in preserving the traditions of the Mardi Gras Indians. Her death occurred during a shooting incident that took place after a repast for 22-year-old Dellmarcus Kirton, who had been killed in a separate shooting on Interstate 10.
