While waiting with relatives at a food truck on Conti Street to get grilled oysters, this excitement tragically turned to terror.
In an instant, the festive atmosphere was shattered by the
sound of gunfire. A barrage of bullets tore through the line, and when the chaos subsided, three people were struck. Heaven was an unintended victim, caught in the deadly crossfire. She was rushed to a local hospital but sadly succumbed to her injuries. Two men also lost their lives in the shooting: 39-year-old Donald Roberts Jr. and 56-year-old Marvin Pepp.
In the immediate aftermath, the New Orleans Police Department launched an investigation into the triple homicide.
