Heaven Nettles, a 15-year-old African American girl from Houston, Texas, was tragically killed on February 26, 2022, while visiting New Orleans, Louisiana, with her family. Heaven was in town to experience the Carnival festivities and was waiting in line at a food truck for grilled oysters when she was caught in the crossfire of a shooting.
