Jonshel Alexander, a 22-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on November 27, 2021, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Known for her role in the Oscar-nominated film "Beasts of the Southern Wild," Alexander was found unresponsive by police in the 1500 block of North Claiborne Avenue, at the intersection of Columbus Street in New Orleans's Seventh Ward.
