In the late hours of a September evening in Shreveport, Louisiana, the life of 25-year-old Ladarrien LaRay Taylor was tragically cut short. On September 28, 2020, just before 10:00 p.m., police responded to a call of a shooting in the 7100 block of Wallace Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a harrowing scene. Ladarrien and his 23-year-old brother, Denzel Jamar Taylor, were both suffering from gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.
The brothers were rushed to Ochsner LSU Health Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, both men succumbed to their wounds.
The investigation into the double homicide quickly pointed to one man: 33-year-old Stanley Goldsby. Detectives determined that Goldsby had gone to the residence on Wallace Avenue and gotten into an argument with one of the Taylor brothers. The verbal altercation escalated tragically when Goldsby produced a firearm and shot both Ladarrien and Denzel. After the shooting, Goldsby fled the scene in a vehicle, sparking a manhunt.
A warrant was issued for Goldsby's arrest, initially for one count of second-degree murder and one count of attempted second-degree murder, with the charges later expected to be upgraded following Ladarrien's death. The search for Goldsby extended beyond Louisiana, and he was eventually apprehended in Cass County, Missouri, during a traffic stop. He was then extradited back to Shreveport to face the charges against him and was held at the Caddo Correctional Center on a $350,000 bond.
The legal proceedings that followed took an unexpected turn. In February 2024, Stanley Goldsby Jr. was arrested in Alexandria, Louisiana, in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Anthony Bell. News of this new charge brought to light the unsettling fact that Goldsby was no longer in custody for the Shreveport double homicide. The details surrounding his release from the Caddo Parish Jail System remain undisclosed.
