On a Thursday night in Sorrento, Louisiana, a domestic dispute tragically ended the life of 47-year-old Alvin “Gator” Geisenheimer. The incident, which occurred on October 22, 2020, involved an altercation between Geisenheimer and his 16-year-old son at a residence along Airline Highway. During the course of the argument, the teenager shot his father.
Deputies from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office responded to the scene, where they found that Alvin Geisenheimer had died from his
injuries. Following an investigation into the fatal shooting, authorities arrested his 16-year-old son. The teenager was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and was booked into the St. Bernard Youth Detention Center.
Alvin Geisenheimer, a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Sorrento, was an ironworker at Turner Industries. He was known for his enjoyment of hunting and fishing. His death left behind a loving wife, four children, his parents, and a sister. A memorial service was held to honor his memory in the days following the tragic event.
