In the early morning hours of December 26, 2022, the day after Christmas, tragedy struck at a house party in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans. A vibrant young man, 19-year-old Kyron Peters, was fatally shot and pronounced dead at the scene. The male victim was a student at Booker T. Washington High School, where he played football and basketball, and was expected to graduate in 2023. He had dreams of one day playing in the NBA.
