On November 17, 2020, 18-year-old Canaan Batiste, a young African American male from Slidell, Louisiana, tragically lost his life in a violent incident. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office reported that the shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the Alton area near Slidell.
