In the late afternoon of October 15, 2025, in Slidell, Louisiana, tragedy struck at a place typically reserved for recreation and community gathering. Eighteen-year-old Chance’lor Parker, a male resident of Slidell, was near Possum Hollow Park when gunfire erupted around 5 p.m. First responders arrived to find Parker suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he died later that day. The St.
Tammany Parish Coroner officially identified Chance'lor Parker as the victim.
The Slidell Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into the shooting, which caused a great deal of concern among residents, as the park was a popular local hangout. Investigators worked tirelessly and were able to identify a person of interest in the case. The investigation led them to a 16-year-old male suspect who was believed to be hiding in Hancock County, Mississippi.
After an attempt to apprehend the suspect at a residence in Hancock County was unsuccessful, the 16-year-old male turned himself in to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office on the evening of Monday, October 20, 2025. Following his surrender, arrangements were made for his extradition back to Louisiana to face charges. The teenage suspect is charged with one count of first-degree murder for the death of Chance'lor Parker and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
