On a crisp autumn morning in the Honey Island Swamp of Slidell, Louisiana, a day of hunting among friends turned into a tragedy that would forever alter the course of their lives. On November 10, 2018, 23-year-old Zachary Kyle Swanson, a Caucasian male with a deep passion for the outdoors, was fatally shot. His life, filled with the promise of a future with his longtime girlfriend, Amber Vanderklis, and their daughter, Baylynn, was cut short in an instant.
