Ted Wayne Moore, a 64-year-old African American man from Monroe, Louisiana, fondly known as 'Paul Harvey' by his friends and family, was a cherished father and grandfather. Born on July 18, 1956, he was known for his love of playing dominoes and chess, and for the constant smile he wore. His life, however, was cut short in a tragic incident that unfolded on the evening of January 28, 2021.
On that night, an argument between Moore and his 54-year-old girlfriend, Evelyn Sanders, escalated
within their residence in the 1900 block of Adams Street in Monroe. Witnesses reported hearing the heated exchange, which culminated in the sound of a gunshot from a back bedroom. When police arrived at the scene, they found Moore deceased.
The Monroe Police Department promptly launched an investigation into the shooting. Evelyn Sanders was taken into custody in connection with Moore's death. Although she initially denied her involvement in the shooting, she did admit to being familiar with the firearm that was used. Following the investigation, Sanders was arrested and booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center. She faced serious charges, including second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
In the wake of his untimely death, Ted Wayne Moore's family and friends gathered to honor his memory. A graveside service was held for him on February 6, 2021, at the Monroe City Cemetery. He is remembered and missed by his children, grandchildren, and the wider community he touched with his presence.
