In the quiet community of Zachary, Louisiana, the life of 32-year-old Kylan D'Andre Givens was tragically cut short on Sunday, February 7, 2021. A graduate of Northeast High School and an employee at Georgia Pacific, Givens was a resident of Zachary. His life was brought to a violent end in the Live Oak Trace community on Hidden Pass Drive, where he suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation into the deadly shooting quickly led authorities to identify a suspect: 34-year-old
Jeffery Neff. Following the incident, law enforcement sought Neff on multiple charges, including second-degree murder, illegal discharge of a firearm, violation of a restraining order, and stalking. The situation took a turn when Neff, accompanied by his family who maintained his innocence, voluntarily surrendered to the authorities on the evening of Sunday, February 21, 2021. His attorney stated that there was more to the story than what was being publicly portrayed.
Upon his surrender, Jeffery Neff was formally arrested and charged in connection with the death of Kylan Givens. Records indicated that Neff had a prior arrest history that included charges of domestic abuse, stalking, and simple battery. The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force assisted the Zachary Police Department in the apprehension of Neff.
