In the quiet community of Harvey, Louisiana, the life of Anthony Fefie, a 27-year-old Black / African American man, was cut short on March 14, 2021. A graduate of Helen Cox Sr. High School, Fefie had served his country for three years in the United States Navy. He was known by loved ones as a fun-loving individual with a passion for fishing and music, even producing his own album titled "Next Up EP."
On that fateful day, Fefie was driving a car in Jefferson Parish with 19-year-old Tyria
Robinson in the passenger seat when he was fatally shot. The vehicle subsequently veered off the road, striking a brick fence before crashing into a tree. The incident set in motion a series of events that would lead to an arrest and a plea of not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder.
Following the crash, witnesses reported seeing a woman, later identified as Robinson, exit the passenger side of the vehicle splattered with blood. She allegedly informed onlookers that the driver had passed out before she fled the scene fully clothed and headed towards a nearby apartment complex. Later, Robinson flagged down a motorist with a different story, claiming she had been the victim of a kidnapping and that her clothes had been ripped from her by her pursuers.
However, investigators found that witness accounts contradicted Robinson's kidnapping claim. Their investigation led them to arrest Robinson in connection with Fefie's death. In July 2021, Tyria Robinson pleaded not guilty to the charge of second-degree murder. The case continues to move through the legal system.
