In the late hours of a Saturday night in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, tragedy struck a 16-year-old male named Johntrell Cain. On April 10, 2021, while standing in a parking lot in the 6800 block of Florida Boulevard, Cain was shot by an unidentified male. The incident occurred at approximately 11:04 p.m. Cain sustained gunshot injuries and tragically succumbed to them.
The Baton Rouge Police Homicide Detectives immediately launched an investigation into the fatal shooting.
Their efforts led to the identification of two suspects. A few days later, on April 13, 2021, the U.S. Marshal's Task Force apprehended 19-year-old Darrius Wheeler and 19-year-old Kendrick White for their alleged involvement in Johntrell Cain's death.
Following their arrest, both Wheeler and White were booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Prison. They face charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. The investigation into the shooting that cut short the life of the teenager is ongoing.
