In the early morning hours of May 1, 2021, the life of 35-year-old Derrick Cavazos, a beloved Southern University alumnus and adjunct professor, was tragically cut short in his Baton Rouge, Louisiana, home. A male intruder, later identified as 28-year-old Terrius Brown, reportedly forced his way into Cavazos's residence on Ashby Avenue.
