In the early morning hours of the Fourth of July, 2021, a burst of violence shattered the holiday calm at a Waffle House on West Thomas Street in Hammond, Louisiana. Inside the restaurant, 30-year-old Robbert Armstrong, a male resident of nearby Ponchatoula, was shot. The Hammond Police Department was called to the scene, where they found Armstrong suffering from a gunshot wound.
