On December 26, 2023, 35-year-old Orlandas Jerome Chapman of Hammond, Louisiana, was fatally shot in the 1200 block of Smith Square. Responding to reports of a shooting, the Hammond Police Department found Chapman suffering from gunshot wounds; he was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
