In the ensuing chaos, Javan Myers reportedly returned fire but succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Jones was also struck by gunfire during the exchange, along with a 25-year-old man, a 22-year-old woman, and the young child.
Following the shooting, the injured were transported to area hospitals. The 22-year-old woman and the 4-year-old child were treated for their injuries and subsequently released. The 25-year-old man was reported to be in serious condition. Jones was also hospitalized for his injuries before being taken into custody.
Marquanvius Jones has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting. He faces serious charges, including second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and assault with a deadly weapon. After being released from the hospital, he was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
