In the summer of 2021, a 27-year-old man named Jaques Jones, a male, was found deceased in a Tigerland apartment complex in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Baton Rouge Police Department was called to the Sandpiper apartments on Tigerland Avenue around 10:30 in the morning, where they discovered his body. The cause of death was determined to be a shooting.
The apartment building where Jones's body was discovered had a troubled history, with numerous complaints and a significant number of
calls to the police in the preceding years. These calls ranged from reports of a double-homicide to rape, painting a picture of a high-crime area. The local District Attorney had even filed a petition for an abatement order against the property due to the ongoing safety concerns.
Following an investigation into the deadly shooting, authorities arrested 20-year-old Coron Davis. Davis was taken into custody in connection with Jones's death and was subsequently booked on charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
