In the early hours of August 6, 2021, the New Orleans Police Department responded to a call about a suspicious person at the intersection of Dwyer Road and Wilson Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman lying on the ground, suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene, but the woman was pronounced dead. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office later identified the victim as 34-year-old Heather Tulbert.
