On a mild evening in New Orleans on January 18, 2021, Ilia Henderson, a 40-year-old female personal care assistant, was diligently at work, caring for one of her patients. They were sitting on a porch on Bienville Avenue when the calm was shattered by the eruption of gunfire. In an instant, a senseless act of violence claimed Ilia’s life, an innocent bystander caught in a conflict not her own.
