Dillan Lauren Burton, a 7-year-old African American girl, tragically lost her life on December 26, 2021, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dillan was riding in a car with her mother and sibling when she was fatally shot. The incident occurred near the intersection of General DeGaulle Drive and Hendee Street. Dillan's mother, Maquisha Burton, heard gunfire and drove to the 1200 block of Milton Street, where she called the police. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Dillan succumbed to her injuries.
