In a tragic end to a volatile relationship, 32-year-old Lizeth Maldonado was killed in her Harvey, Louisiana, home on February 27th. The Hispanic woman’s life was cut short by a fatal gunshot wound inflicted during an argument with her estranged boyfriend, Kenny Rojas. The couple’s three young children were in the home at the time of the incident.
The horror of the situation was amplified by the fact that their 12-year-old daughter was bathing when she heard the gunshot.
After the shooting, the young girl heard her mother say, “He killed me.” In the immediate aftermath, Rojas fled the scene, leaving the three children alone with their dying mother.
Law enforcement officials later located and arrested Kenny Rojas, then 38, at a residence in Terrytown. Following his arrest, he faced legal proceedings for his actions. In May 2023, a Jefferson Parish jury found Rojas guilty of the second-degree murder of Lizeth Maldonado.
