In the late hours of a Saturday in Alexandria, Louisiana, the life of Gil Woods Jr., a 41-year-old African American man, was tragically cut short. On May 28, 2022, at approximately 11 p.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the night in the 2900 block of Houston Street. When officers from the Alexandria Police Department arrived at the scene in response to a 911 call, they discovered Woods suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
