In the late hours of a Saturday in Alexandria, Louisiana, the life of Gil Woods Jr., a 41-year-old African American man, was tragically cut short. On May 28, 2022, at approximately 11 p.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the night in the 2900 block of Houston Street. When officers from the Alexandria Police Department arrived at the scene in response to a 911 call, they discovered Woods suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to a local hospital for medical attention but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Woods, a resident of Monroe, Louisiana, was visiting Alexandria at the time of the fatal shooting. The motive behind the violent act remains a central focus of the ongoing investigation led by the Alexandria Police Department. In that separate incident, Carradine is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend and another man on Monroe Street. Both victims in that case, who were in their 50s, sustained life-threatening injuries but were reported to be recovering.
Following the second shooting, the Alexandria Police Department's SWAT team executed a search warrant at Carradine's residence, but he was not located. Authorities have since issued warrants for his arrest on two counts of attempted second-degree murder related to the Monroe Street shooting.
