In the early morning hours of June 4, 2022, a tragic incident unfolded in Des Allemands, Louisiana, leading to the death of 19-year-old Trent Byerly. Byerly, a male, was one of four individuals traveling in a silver Honda Accord on WPA Road. According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, Byerly was handling a firearm inside the vehicle when it discharged, striking him in the chest.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and Byerly was quickly transported to a nearby hospital
for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to the gunshot wound and was pronounced dead. The initial investigation by the Sheriff's Office pointed to the shooting being accidental in nature.
In the course of their investigation, detectives interviewed the other occupants of the vehicle.
