In the quiet evening of January 5, 2024, the life of Zachariah Zerangue, a 39-year-old man from Opelousas, Louisiana, was tragically cut short by gun violence. Known affectionately to his family and friends as 'Trell', he was a man who found joy in the long hauls of truck driving and the tangible results of construction work. His warm and welcoming nature meant he never considered anyone a stranger. That night, however, in the 700 block of Hiram Street, this warmth was extinguished.
