Jermaine Andrus, a 28-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on January 19, 2014, in Opelousas, Louisiana. The incident occurred during an attempted robbery, where Andrus was fatally shot in his left torso with a 9-millimeter handgun. The suspect, Diovanni D. LaFountain, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. LaFountain, who was 21 years old at the time, was believed to have committed the crime in the 1000 block of Emma Street.
