In the early afternoon of June 6, 2022, a sense of normalcy was shattered in a Baton Rouge neighborhood. On that Monday, at approximately 12:19 p.m., 17-year-old Terran Fobb was fatally shot in the 3000 block of Oswego Street. The male teenager, who resided on the same street where his life was tragically cut short, was shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
This act of violence unfolded just blocks away from where two other shootings had been reported the previous day, adding to the anxieties of the local community.
The investigation into the death of Terran, a student who was looking forward to his graduation from Capitol Senior High School the following year, was handled by the Baton Rouge Police Homicide Detectives. Initially, the motive and the perpetrator were unknown, leaving a void of uncertainty for his family and friends. For months, the case remained under active investigation as law enforcement diligently worked to bring justice for the young victim, known affectionately as 'Worm' to his loved ones.
A significant breakthrough in the case came on November 3, 2022. On this day, members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force successfully located and arrested a suspect. Nineteen-year-old Khalil Henderson was taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of Terran Fobb. At the time of his arrest, authorities also discovered a significant quantity of illegal narcotics in Henderson's possession, including methamphetamine, marijuana, and psilocybin, along with a handgun and an undisclosed sum of money.
Following his arrest, Khalil Henderson was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He faced a series of grave charges, including first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, reflecting the severity of the crime. Additionally, he was charged with illegal use of a weapon, two counts of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I drugs, possession with intent to distribute Schedule II drugs, and possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, compounding the legal challenges against him.
