In the summer of 2022, a dispute between acquaintances in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, escalated to a fatal conclusion, claiming the life of 30-year-old Delta Hunt. The male victim was discovered with critical gunshot wounds on June 13, 2022, in the 10000 block of Avenue L, located near the Bayou Ridge Apartments. Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and promptly transported Hunt to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Despite their efforts, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The subsequent investigation by the Baton Rouge Police Department homicide detectives unfolded over the course of the next year. In July 2023, authorities announced the first arrest in connection with the shooting death of Delta Hunt. Deondrae Green, 26 years old at the time, was taken into custody and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. The charges against him included second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing feud between Hunt and Green.
Further developments in the case came nearly a year later. In July 2025, a second suspect, Demetris Parker, 23, was arrested for his alleged involvement in Hunt's death. Parker faced charges of second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Arrest documents later revealed that the fatal confrontation was preceded by an argument. Hunt was reportedly arguing with both Parker and Green regarding a separate shooting incident that had occurred in Jackson. The disagreement, fueled by claims allegedly made by Hunt on social media about that prior homicide, is believed to have led to the deadly shooting.
