On May 30, 2019, 17-year-old Tedric Stevenson was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting. Authorities believe that an altercation between Stevenson and Duncan escalated, leading to the fatal encounter. Following his arrest, Stevenson was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison as the legal process against him commenced.
