J. B. Hare, the Chief of Police for the Baton Rouge Police Department in Louisiana, was tragically shot and killed on November 16, 1911. He was 66 years old at the time of his death. Hare had served with the police department for 25 years and was well-respected in his community. He was survived by his wife and three children.
