In the early evening hours of July 1, 2022, a violent altercation in Houma, Louisiana, tragically ended the life of 44-year-old Robert 'Robbie' Mitchell Jr. A native and resident of Napoleonville, Mitchell was discovered inside a vehicle near the intersection of Main Street and Naquin Street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Houma Police Department’s investigation into the shooting revealed that Mitchell had been
involved in a dispute with at least one other individual moments before the fatal shots were fired. As the investigation progressed, authorities identified two suspects in connection with the homicide. Warrants were issued for the arrests of 22-year-old Kereon Alexander and 27-year-old Henry Harris III on charges of second-degree murder.
While the initial stages of the investigation were challenging, with the motive and suspects not immediately clear, law enforcement was able to develop leads. This included identifying a suspect vehicle, described as a dark-colored four-door sedan, seen leaving the area of the shooting. The subsequent investigation led to the identification of Alexander and Harris as the alleged perpetrators.
