In the late hours of a Tuesday night in Rayne, Louisiana, the life of 56-year-old Willie Robinson Jr. was tragically cut short. On September 6, 2022, the Rayne Police Department received multiple calls shortly before 11:00 p.m. reporting a shooting at the intersection of Bailey and West C Street. Upon their arrival, officers discovered the body of Robinson, a resident of nearby Kaplan.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect.
Authorities identified 43-year-old Hulon Williams III as the individual believed to have shot Robinson. The motive for the fatal encounter remained unclear as the investigation commenced. In the early morning hours of the following day, Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at approximately 1:29 a.m., officers located and arrested Williams on Reynolds Street.
Following his arrest, Hulon Williams III was booked into the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office Jail. He faces a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Willie Robinson Jr. While an arrest has been made, the events that transpired leading up to the deadly shooting are still under investigation by the Rayne Police Department.
