In the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, the life of a young Black man, Mark Thomas-Little, was tragically cut short at the age of 20. On the morning of Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at approximately 9:54 AM, the sharp sound of gunfire pierced the air in the vicinity of 113 Evans Street. The city's ShotSpotter system registered the shots, prompting officers from District B-3 in Mattapan to respond to the scene.
