Sterling Sims, a 5-year-old African American boy, tragically lost his life on June 28, 2013, in Chicago, Illinois. Sterling and his mother, 31-year-old Chevonne Brown, were found shot to death in their home located in the 5300 block of South Winchester Avenue. The incident occurred around 2:40 a.m., and both victims were discovered in their bedrooms. The brutal nature of the crime shocked the local community and prompted an intense investigation by the Chicago Police Department.
