On March 29, 2017, Jerry Jacobs, aged 37, was shot and killed in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood. The incident occurred when Jacobs was walking along the 7900 block of South Phillips Avenue late in the evening. Reports indicate that four males emerged from a dark-colored vehicle and opened fire, striking Jacobs. Despite being injured, Jacobs managed to take himself to South Shore Hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries.
