Death by Force

Martarvian Emery, a 21-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on April 26, 2014, in Chicago, IL. The incident occurred in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, where Emery was inside a home located in the 5400 block of South Winchester Avenue. At approximately 1:15 a.m., Otis Harriel, a 47-year-old man, fired a handgun into the second story of the building, striking Emery in the chest. Emery was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.
