Bruce Wright, a 23-year-old Chicago resident, was shot and killed on July 8, 2014. He was riding his bicycle in the 900 block of North Hamlin Avenue when a van approached, and an individual opened fire, striking Wright in the head. Wright, who lived nearby, was pronounced dead at the scene. This incident was part of a violent period for Chicago, particularly during the 4th of July weekend in 2014, which saw a surge in shootings and homicides across the city.
