Daniel Cordova, a 26-year-old man, was shot and killed on May 7, 2017, in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood. He was found with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene. His death was part of a broader trend of gang-related violence that plagued the area. The day following his murder, a memorial service for him turned violent, resulting in additional deaths and injuries. Cordova’s passing reflected the ongoing struggles with gun violence in the city during that year.
