Deon Gilbert, a 15-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on November 7, 2014, in the South Deering neighborhood of Chicago, IL. Deon was visiting a friend and walking to a gas station when a dark-colored van pulled up, and the driver fired shots, two of which struck Deon in the stomach. Despite being rushed to Comer Children's Hospital, Deon succumbed to his injuries on the operating table.
